NextGen Sports Club policies
Code of Conduct
Last updated: October 25, 2026
Everyone at NextGen represents the club. Players, parents, guardians, coaches, staff and volunteers agree to this code when they register or join the club. It applies at practices, games, team events and online.
1. Players
- Respect teammates, opponents, coaches, referees and spectators. Win with humility and lose with grace.
- No abusive, offensive or vulgar language or gestures.
- Arrive on time, prepared, and give full effort with a positive attitude.
- Accept referees' decisions without arguing.
- Never bully, threaten or harm anyone, in person or online.
- Keep your availability up to date in PlayMetrics and tell your coach about absences in advance.
2. Parents and Guardians
- Encourage your player and every player on the field. Keep comments positive.
- Leave coaching to the coaches. Do not give instructions to players during games.
- Respect referees and their decisions. Never confront a referee, coach, player or spectator.
- Stay off the field unless an official invites you on.
- Wait 24 hours after a game before raising a concern, then raise it calmly and privately with the coach.
- Playing time and positions are decided by the coach based on development and team needs.
- Make sure your player is on time and properly equipped, and keep up with team messages.
3. Coaches and Staff
- Create a safe, inclusive and challenging environment for every player.
- Keep background checks, SafeSport training and concussion training current, and follow the Player Safety & SafeSport policy at all times.
- Model sportsmanship, integrity and professionalism. No abusive language or behavior.
- Communicate openly and respectfully with players and families, with a parent included in messages to players.
- Plan purposeful, well-run sessions and put player welfare ahead of results.
- Respond to concerns promptly and professionally.
4. Social Media
- Keep posts about NextGen, opponents, referees and other clubs respectful.
- Do not post photos or videos of other players with their names without their parents' permission.
- Raise concerns with the club directly, not online.
5. Concerns and Complaints
Raise concerns first with your coach. If it is not resolved, email info@nextgensportsclub.org and club leadership will review it. Safety concerns can be reported at any time without going through the coach. See how to report a concern.
6. Consequences
Consequences depend on how serious the behavior is. Usually:
- First offense: a warning from the coach
- Second offense: suspension from a game, in addition to any league or referee sanction
- Third offense: possible removal from the club after review by club leadership
NextGen may skip steps, suspend a person right away, or remove a player, parent or coach from the club for serious misconduct, including violence, abuse, threats, harassment or any behavior that puts a player at risk. A parent's conduct can lead to consequences for the family's involvement with the club. Removal does not cancel fees already owed, as set out in the Refunds & Cancellations policy.
